It’s a story to share with anyone who loves basketball, knows someone who does, or wants to bless anyone who wants to impact the world! This book is a must read for anyone. I couldn’t put it down and felt like I was living John Vallely’s life with him. The life lessons are so poignant! I found coach Wooden’s life lessons so applicable and want all of my students to capture these truths to help them be the best they can be. The way all of coaches life lessons are weaved into John Vallely’s real life story is simply amazing. I laughed, I cried, and will read it again! I read a lot, and this is one of the best books I have read in awhile!

The book, while initially intimidating due to its sports terminology, turned out to be an easy read and deeply engaging. It’s so much more than just an athlete’s basketball career journey- it’s a powerful love story and an inspirational narrative filled with emotional highs and lows. I found myself celebrating his successes and empathizing with his family’s struggles. But of course, the biggest takeaway was the motivating ‘pyramid of principles,’ which not only influenced his basketball career but also guided him throughout his life, offering valuable lessons for everyone, including myself. I wish I could’ve known Coach Wooden personally, but reading this certainly grew my respect for him and all of the wonderful lessons he taught, and even continues to teach through his legacy.
